Team shirts are now with the printers, although given the plethora of bank holidays in April, it looks like it will be mid-May before we are wowing the opposition with our funky duds! As previously advised we have 9 (one third of the tin) polycarbonate panels being installed on court that will be available to advertise your business. We still have 3 panels left, so if you would like to take one or all of these please let me know as soon as possible. |

Once again the club tournaments were well supported by the membership and this year saw the inclusion of an open Racketball tournament for the first time. A very big thank you goes to John Robinson for organising all the senior tournaments and to his able assistants, Ian Salmond, Leigh Martin and Kerryn Bartlett for sorting out trophies, court availability etc. Please click here to view the final results. Before the prize giving got underway a presentation was made to Peter O’Brien. Peter has been a member of WSRC for over 50 years, which although an achievement in itself was actually not the reason for the award. I would imagine that at some point you would have experienced the highs and lows of playing in the leagues, but probably didn’t give much thought to who was toting up your points for and against and then pinning up the new leagues for you to enter into with new found optimism. Well since 1975 until just last year Peter has done this for all of us voluntarily and thoroughly deserves our thanks and recognition. |

Welcome to the latest edition of the Wagtail
Following on from our inaugural newsletter, I am pleased to confirm that we have found 28 players who have agreed to participate in the 24 hour squash marathon taking place on Friday 17th June. Please support these hardy souls by sponsoring them as we attempt to raise £10,000 for Woking Hospice.
The last month or so has been particularly busy for WSRC with all our teams finishing the Winter 2010/11 Surrey Cup season and the club championship finals being played over the 8th, 9th and 10th of April. In fact there is so much information to give you that next month’s newsletter will be set aside as a Juniors special to bring you up to date with how they have been getting on. However, this edition we concentrate on the er...older members.
Enjoy! John Hughes Chairman |
